For those of you that have tried the MADROCK Drone series

A stream of consciousness, unscripted conversation about my favorite shoes, the Mad Rock Drones. I talk about the basic features that make it so great, some issues that I've found after 6ish . I picked up a pair of Mad Rock Drone 2.0 LV after meeting the Mad Rock crew at the Chattanooga Indoor Climbing Expo last fall. Do these guys live up to the hype for the best climbing.

The Drone Comp Series (CS) is a highly aggressive asymmetrical bouldering shoe—a softer counterpart to the classic Drone—that excels on steep outdoor climbs and gym volumes. It’s got a single Velcro closure system, a neoprene upper, and Mad Rock’s latest “Xtreme Fiction” rubber compound.

I see a lot of people asking for shoe advice, so I thought I’d share my review of the Mad Rock Drone LV. I love these shoes so much that I just purchased my second pair. Does anyone else climb in the Drones?

I've been a long tome Drone LV user, my absolute favorite shoe! I've been trying to get used to the 2.0 and so far have not been loving them. They're a bit wider all around and noticeably wider in the toebox. They also feel considerably stiffer and less sensitive than the original drones. I'm an 11.5 in vans, and tried the OG drone in 10.5 and my toe knuckles almost always hurt, 10.5 in the CS and they're one of the most comfortable shoes I've worn while performing really well. I feel they don't edge very well, which is fine, they're a tool for a purpose.

Downturned and twisted profile for power and precision. Stretchy and breathable tongue. 3D expandable molded heel for a versatile fit made with climbing grade rubber. Low Volume version offers a narrower toe box, smaller heel cup, and a lower profile.

Compared to an authentic belt, the “LV” buckle on a fake is often rounded, not straight, not as sharply or finely cut, and too thick or thin. [1] Look at the buckle’s color, too. The “LV” logo might be duller than a real “LV” logo and the hue may look off. For instance, a fake gold “LV” logo might be too brassy.
