After all these years, the rubberized surface has become sticky, with dirt and dust practically gluing itself to it. It's a lovely box, so I really don't want to have to throw it out. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to clean it up without damaging it (like accidentally rubbing off the white IWC print and text)?

Box is in the original paper box stored in my wardrobe. took out recently and realise the matte surface is very sticky now and my finger print is now imprinted on it. Is there any way to salvage the box still? any solution to wipe on it to clean it or remove the matte surface if that is even recommended? /p/p< /p

I've used Goo Gone, as well as some cleaner/degreaser and nothing seems to be pulling the residue off. My Iwc box is very sticky I am assuming it just the rubberized finish breaking down due to age. Is there any fix? Can I use goo gone and remove all the finish? Can I treat it with something made for rubber? What can I do? I bought a couple excellent ones many years ago and had to pry them off the varnished shelf they sat on.
